Late to the podcast game? Here are some of our quick recommendations for where to start! From librarians, for librarians. 

1) Cyberpunk Librarian

Hosted by Daniel Messer, the Web Content Manager for the Maricopa Country Library District — that’s in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, by the way — the Cyberpunk Librarian podcast explores ideas, trends, and other relevant topics for technologically minded librarians who are high tech but have a low budget.

2) T is for Training

In their own words, T is for Training is “an informal podcast dedicated but not obsessed with training in libraries”. Their podcasts are usually recorded live, so quality isn’t super excellent, but the content more than makes up for it.

3) LibUX

LibUX is a podcast hosted by front-end/user experience librarians Michael Schofield and Amanda L. Goodman that discusses design, development and user experience in libraries and the higher-ed web.

They answer difficult questions as “Why are library websites so hard to get right?” and ““What research techniques and tools are actually used in library UX work?”. They also provide design and development consultancy for user experience departments and library web teams.

• They have a new weekly segment called W3R, where you can get your news weekly about the world wide web in under 10 minutes.

4) Open paren

Open Paren is a podcast about libraries, librarians and code.

Hosted by Andromeda Yelton, the episodes are usually in the format of an interview between her and a library professional, in which they discuss things like learning communities, user interfaces, metadata, programming, and other library-related themes.

5) Adventures in Library Instruction

Adventures in Library Instruction is a monthly podcast by and for library information literacy instructors and teaching librarians which focuses on teaching in libraries,

While the podcast is sadly no longer updated (the last episode was in 2012), there are 20 episodes still available on iTunes that are super fun to listen to.
